CUSTOMS
& EXCISE DEPARTMENT
The
Commissioner Customs is responsible to plan, manage and coordinate
the collections and accounting for International trade taxes
in accordance with the Tax Laws, Government policy and the
provisions of COMESA and the EA Customs Union. The Commissioner
is assisted by 5 Assistant Commissioners.
• The Assistant Commissioner Enforcement is responsible
to plan, review and coordinate the implementation of anti
tax evasion/enforcement systems and strategies for Customs
in line with the URA regulations and departmental strategy.
• The Assistant Business Analysis and Compliance is
responsible to plan, review and coordinate the implementation
of programs for the management of Arrears
and Objections in line with the URA regulations and
departmental strategy.
• The Assistant Commissioner Audit is responsible to
plan, review and coordinate the implementation of programs
for the management of customs Audits in line with the URA
regulations and departmental strategy.
• The Assistant Commissioner Trade is responsible to
plan, review and coordinate the implementation of programs
for the management of technical matters and interpretations
in line with WCO standards, CMA, WTO, and the Customs Union
provisions.
• The Assistant Commissioner Field Services is responsible
to plan, review and coordinate the implementation of programs
for the management of customs field delivery operations in
line with applicable Customs set legislations.
